Clubs/Organizations

Jr. Beta Club: Jr. Beta was founded in 1934 to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership. Each spring new members are inducted based upon GPA. Members participate in a variety of leadership and service projects within the school and Chesnee Community. The club sponsors are Mrs. Danielle Thomas and Mrs. Kelsey Garcia.

Student Council: Each year students are elected to serve on the CMS Student Council. StudentsA snapshot of the clubs and organizations available at Chesnee Middle School may be elected as officers or class representatives. The members organize the annual Clemson/Carolina Food Drive and Pennies for Patients Campaign. Student Council is sponsored by Mrs. Sonia Capotosti.

Hope Squad
Hope Squad is a peer to peer suicide prevention program. Students are nominated by their peers and then trained on the risk factors and warning signs of suicide so that they know what to do if they see a classmate struggling and how to get them to the help they need. Hope Squad encourages school connectedness so that every student knows they have friends that care about them.

Model UN:
“Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.” (https://unausa.org/model-un/) CMS Model UN members compete in debates throughout the year including a national conference held in New York. Model UN is sponsored by Mrs. Capotosti. 

Book Club
: Each month Book Club members select from a variety of books and come together to discuss with peers, teachers, leaders, parents, and community members. The gathering is coupled with a meal, a theme, and prizes. The club is sponsored by Mrs. Amanda Boyd.

Characters Alive: Characters Alive is an annual program hosted by 6th graders who audition to read aloud a children’s book in costume. Performances are presented to local pre-school and daycare programs. The program is sponsored by Mrs. Judy Arnold.

Band Club: Band Club offers students who are interested in band but not enrolled in the class to learn new instruments and develop skills needed for beginner band. Band Club is sponsored by Mrs. Julie Keeling.
